Abstract

The present study took place between September 2020 and April 2022 in Senegal (Dakar), and involved a group of 15 normal (healthy) Ladoum sheep, whose age is between three (03) months and two (02) years.  At the Medina Veterinary Clinic in Dakar, the animals were consulted and chosen to ensure that they were apparently healthy. Then, at the BOMBO Clinic, we took pictures to make an X-ray atlas for didactic purposes of the thorax, mediastinum and abdomen of the sheep. This study allowed us to note peculiarities at the level of the thorax, where the spinous processes of the thoracic vertebrae are visible except for the spinous process of the first thoracic vertebra hidden by the rostral edge of the scapula, the cartilaginous part of the asternal ribs becomes less visible from the eleventh rib and sternum visible only in lateral incidence, but not in ventro-dorsal incidence; At the level of the mediastinum, we have noted that it is subdivided into three (03): cranial, middle and caudal. The cranial mediastinum contains the trachea visible on the x-ray and the heart is located in the middle mediastinum of the thorax and at the level of the abdomen, the forestomachs occupy almost the entire abdomen. On the other hand, the intestines are pushed back into the right part of the abdomen by the rumen, and can only be observed as a whole in ventro-dorsal incidence.
