Caractérisation des paramètres phénotypiques en lien avec le parasitisme gastro-intestinal chez les chèvres Djallonké dans la région du Sud-Ouest du Burkina Faso

L’élevage représente environ 40 % de la valeur de la production agricole mondiale et
constitue une source essentielle d’alimentation ainsi qu’un pilier des systèmes
agricoles. Au Burkina Faso, les systèmes de production étant majoritairement
pastoraux et traditionnels, les animaux sont continuellement exposés aux nématodes
gastro-intestinaux (NGI), responsables de pertes de production importantes, voire de
mortalité. Dans ce contexte, la présente étude vise à évaluer la résistance relative des
chèvres Djallonké aux infections parasitaires gastro-intestinales dans la région du
Sud-Ouest du Burkina Faso. Un total de 344 chèvres Djallonké a été échantillonné
dans quatre villages de la commune rurale de Bouroum-Bouroum. Après un traitement
anthelminthique au lévamisole, les animaux ont été remis sur des pâturages infestés.
Les paramètres étudiés comprenaient le nombre d’œufs par gramme de fèces (OPG),
le score FAMACHA et l’hématocrite, mesurés 28 et 35 jours après traitement. Les
résultats montrent une légère augmentation du poids corporel moyen, passant de 12,80
à 13,10 kg entre 28 et 35 jours. L’OPG moyen a augmenté de 645 à 973 sur la même période, sans différence significative en raison d’une forte variabilité individuelle. En
revanche, l’effet du sexe sur l’OPG est significatif (P < 0,01), avec des valeurs plus
élevées chez les femelles.
Ces résultats suggèrent que la chèvre Djallonké possède une capacité à maintenir son
poids malgré la pression parasitaire. Cette variabilité de réponse indique un potentiel
intéressant pour la sélection génétique et la diffusion de cette race dans les zones
rurales à accès limité aux soins vétérinaires
